Driving Individual Development
At a micro level Learning Short-takes™ can be administrated purely to improve individual performance and to assist an employee in their current role. For example, where a development goal is identified at the employee's annual performance review and some form of learning intervention is required. Learning Short-takes™ are an excellent intervention in this scenario, particularly for topics in the area of professional development ie. Effective Time Management, Personal Stress Management, Problem Solving & Decision Making etc.
Pre-Course Work
Learning Short-takes™ also work well as pre-course assignments, encouraging participants to really think about a topic before attending face-to-face training. Participants complete the Learning Short-take™ at their own pace and bring their Skill Development Action Plans to the training for debrief and discussion prior to commencement of the program. This approach sets up a very solid start to the program by linking learning outcomes and performance expectations with course content.
Facilitated Learning
Learning Short-takes™ can also be facilitated as 90 minute face-to-face training sessions by line managers or internal trainers alike. A Facilitator Kit is available with each Learning Short-take™ to enable even the most amateur presenter to deliver a robust learning workshop. This format works well for team meetings or other informal occasions where a group of participants are able to get together to participate in a short burst of learning. This format adds to the learning outcome by allowing participants to have input into discussions and share personal experiences. It also facilities team development plans to change behaviour on the job.
Distance Learning
Learning Short-takes™ can be used as individual self-paced learning modules, delivered to employees with a manager feedback loop. The product is robust enough to be completed remotely and still return on-the-job performance improvement. This format works well for organizations who find it difficult to bring groups of employees together for face-to-face training ie. where employees are geographically isolated. It is also an excellent option for organizations who can't afford to take their employees 'off-line' for training, or who face budgetary and resource constraints.
Creating a Learning Continuum
While Learning Short-takes™ work well as 'one-off' bursts of learning, there is considerable merit in developing a learning calendar that takes organizations beyond a short-term focus and delivers long-term business outcomes. Rather than reacting to short-term needs, The Performance Company product lends itself to the development of a robust long-term development strategy which can be effectively implemented and measured against key organizational goals.
Post-Course Work
Learning Short-takes™ are a fantastic post-course activity, keeping participants focused on learning outcomes and on-the-job performance improvement after attending training. They can be issued at either the completion of the program, or some time after the program to test workplace application. Again, in this format the Learning Short-take™ is an excellent form of review.
